K.U.M. Umwelt- und Meerestechnik Kiel GmbH was recently awarded by INEOS Energy DK to operate NAMMU ocean bottom seismometers (OBS) for pre-injection baseline seismicity surveying in the scope of carbon capture and storage (CCS) Project Greensand Future. Our state-of-the-art NAMMU OBS systems will be deployed to provide pivotal passive seismic recordings for the Siri-Fairway in the central North Sea. We are proud to supply critical technology and know-how for verifying a later safe and permanent storage of up to 400.000 tonnes of CO2 per year in the geological reservoir.
Our NAMMU OBS systems are known for their 99% recovery success rate and capability of autonomous operation up to 36 months, continuous. Beyond operation of the OBS network K.U.M. will provide end-to-end data analysis and compilation of seismicity bulletins and catalogues in compliance with the latest international standards. This project further demonstrates K.U.M.’s position as a leading provider of marine seismic monitoring solutions for offshore CCS projects across Europe.
The OBS network is scheduled for deployment in early 2025, reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting the energy transition and security of CO2 storage projects through reliable subsurface monitoring technology.
